The stack

• nginx + PHP-FPM + MySQL on servers in Germany (Hetzner).
• Let’s Encrypt for HTTPS, renewed automatically.
• Daily automated backups, retained off-site and encrypted before they leave our environment.
• Cloudflare edge - CDN, WAF and DDoS protection. Standard on every WordPress site; protects both your site and our shared infrastructure.

What “managed” means here

We manage the infrastructure layer: operating system, web server, PHP, MySQL, TLS certificates, and backups. We keep it patched and performant.

WordPress core, plugins and themes are your responsibility by default. This is a deliberate choice - it keeps ownership clear, and it keeps our pricing honest. If you’d rather hand updates to us too, ask about a maintenance contract. We’ll quote it separately so you see exactly what you’re paying for.

This is also written in our general terms so there are no surprises.

Staging and migrations

We run an internal staging environment for testing. Customer data used in staging is anonymised.

Migrating an existing WordPress site to Somogy is usually straightforward. We handle the copy and test it before cutting over DNS. Downtime is typically minutes, not hours.

Domains

If you’d like us to register a domain for you, we use OpenProvider - and we register it in your own name. If Somogy ever disappears, your domain stays with you. That’s the point.
